Medical Weight Loss Semaglutide

What is Semaglutide?

GLP-1 is an incretin hormone that plays a role in your appetite and digestion. Incretins (hormones released by your small intestine) are sent out by your body after you’ve eaten a meal to help lower your blood sugar by triggering insulin and blocking other sources of sugar.

Incretin also slows down how quickly food leaves your stomach (called gastric emptying). The result of these actions causes you to feel full – lowering your appetite and causing you to lose weight. Medications like GLP-1 agonists are referred to as incretin mimetics since they “mimic” these effects.

With the help of this exciting FDA-approved medicine, you may finally lose weight and keep it off! Semaglutide is a once-weekly injectable prescription medication that can assist with long-term weight management. If you have lost weight in the past only to have it return, semaglutide may help you lose weight and keep it off.

Semaglutide is an injectable prescription medication for adults with obesity or overweight (excess weight) who also have weight-related medical problems. It works by mimicking a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake.
Semaglutide is an FDA-approved once-weekly injection to be used as an adjunct to a balanced diet and regular exercise. Originally to improve glycemic control in diabetic patients, semaglutide has been proven to effectively reduce weight in obese and overweight individuals when combined with diet and exercise.
Semaglutide is a once-weekly injection. You can take it any time of the day, with or without food.
Semaglutide works by mimicking a hormone that regulates appetite and food intake in the brain, allowing you to eat less.
Studies have shown that patients can lose up to 16.0% of their body weight!
Gastrointestinal (GI) side effects tend to happen most frequently when using this medication — the most common being nausea, constipation, and vomiting. You may experience these effects more strongly when we raise your dose. Additional common side effects can include: stomach pain, indigestion, and bloating.

How do I deal with nausea or constipation?

It is common to notice redness, swelling, bruising and soreness immediately after the procedure. However, this shouldn’t prevent you from returning to work after injections. We recommend scheduling injections around your work schedule if you are concerned about the social downtime.

Results commonly become noticeable within one week after treatment and improve with time. When treating skin concerns such as melasma and deep lines and wrinkles, it can take several treatments before noticing results.

Results from treatment are permanent. We recommend diligent lifestyle measures and a Med Spa skin care routine to maintain results.

Topical anesthetic cream is applied to reduce discomfort during the treatment.

The most common side effects include bleeding, bruising, swelling, and redness. These most commonly improve within 1-3 days after treatment.

Makeup may be worn 72 hours after treatment.

We recommend receiving clearance from your OBGYN prior to treatment if pregnant or breastfeeding.
